The announcement dated 18 June 2015 is hereby referred.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) wishes to announce that TNB on 19 June 2015 has received a letter of invitation from the Energy Commission (EC) to submit a proposal pertaining to the participation of TNB through 70% ownership of Jimah East Power Sdn. Bhd. (JEP) in developing a 2x1000MW Coal Fired Power Plant at Mukim Jimah.

EC in consultation with the Government has accepted TNB’s participation as the lead developer in the Project for the development of 2x1000MW Coal Fired Power Plant in Jimah in consortium with Mitsui Co., Ltd (Mitsui).

The invitation by EC is subject to TNB accepting the terms and conditions of the Request For Proposal and as additional, amongst others, are stipulated below:

(i)    The premise that TNB-Mitsui Consortium will undertake all obligations of JEP as a developer and in particular with respect to the selection and appointment of Engineering,                  Procurement and Construction Contractor which had also incorporated the principal equipment suppliers;

(ii)   The firm and final levelised tariff shall not exceed 26.67 sen/kWh. No further adjustments to the levelised tariff will be allowed for any reason whatsoever;

(iii)  The occurrence of Financial Closing Date shall not be beyond 15 October 2015.

As the national power utility, TNB’s participation as the developer is to ensure reliability and security of supply for the nation while maximising its shareholders’ value.

TNB shall make further announcement to Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad as and when there is any material development in relation to the Project.

We refer to the news reports available online in relation to the confirmation by Minister of KeTTHA on TNB’s takeover of Project 3B from 1MDB on 18 June 2015.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (“TNB”) wishes to clarify that at present date TNB has yet to receive any official notification from the Government in relation to TNB’s takeover of Project 3B from 1MDB.

In relation to its investments, TNB emphasizes that it remains committed in maximising its shareholders’ value by seeking business opportunities with strong commercial sense and in doing so TNB shall comply with the applicable laws, rules and regulations as well as upholding the highest corporate governance standard.

TNB will make the necessary announcement should there be any further development on this matter.
