Ranhill Berhad ("Ranhill" or "the Company") wishes to announce that its subsidiary, Amona Ranhill Consortium Sdn Bhd ("ARC") has successfully evacuated all its employees (both Malaysian and foreign) engaged in the housing project in Libya, leaving a few Libyan employees to secure the site.
Prior to this unforeseeable turmoil, work was in progress at the project site without any cost overrun.
The force majeure condition in Libya has rendered it impossible for ARC to continue with the project and hence, necessitated suspension. In view of the on going unrest in Libya, the matter remains to be in the state of flux and hence, the Group is still unable to ascertain the financial impact arising therefrom, with certainty.
The statement "Ranhill will face additional working capital requirements that may exacerbate its liquidity risk" is only relevant if any Letters of Credit requested by ARC during project execution is not processed by the client, Housing & Infrastructure Board, Libya ("HIB"). Since the execution of the project has been suspended, this unlikely event will not take place. In fact, prior to the project suspension, HIB has been supportive and has continually processed ARC's request for Letters of Credit.
