We refer to our earlier announcement dated 17 August 2012 in relation to the Junior Sukuk Musharakah. On behalf of MMC Corporation Berhad (“MMC”), Maybank Investment Bank Berhad is pleased to announce that Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Issuer”), a 51% owned subsidiary of MMC, had on 3 September 2012 issued RM1,800 million in nominal value of the Junior Sukuk Musharakah, the salient terms and conditions of which are set out in the announcement dated 17 August 2012. The terms of the Junior Sukuk Musharakah were approved by the Securities Commission vide its letter dated 16 August 2012. The proceeds from the issuance of the Junior Sukuk Musharakah shall be utilised to early redeem the Issuer’s outstanding Islamic junior sukuk of up to RM1.7 billion in nominal value in full, for working capital purposes and/or to defray expenses incurred in relation to the issuance of the Junior Sukuk Musharakah, all of which shall be Shariah compliant.
