Clarification on the Investment in the Independent Power Plant project in India
Contents: With reference to the queries received from Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad ("Bursa") today, the Board wishes to respond to the queries of Bursa as per the attachment file.
This announcement is dated 30 August 2010.
Query Letter content: We refer to the above matter.
Please note that you are required to provide further disclosures pertaining to
your venture into the IPP project in India and the Equipment Procurement
Contracts.
In this regard, kindly furnish Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad ("Bursa
Securities") with the following additional information immediately for public
release:-
1. The relationships and transactions between Mudajaya, MCB, RKM, MIPP
International Limited ("MIPP") and Enerk International Holdings Ltd;
2. Quantify, in monetary terms, the net profits in MIPP recognised in the
Company's consolidated accounts for the years ended 31 December 2007, 2008 and
2009.
3. How cash received by MIPP from those transactions with RKM had been actually
utilized;
4. What were Mudajaya's sources of funding for its investment in RKM of
RM240million as at 31 December 2009 and how much of this was funded from MIPP;
5. How does Mudajaya plan to fund the balance due of RM631million on its total
investment obligations in RKM of RM871million;
6. To clarify as to how much of the profits/cash arising from MIPP's
transactions with RKM would ultimately be re-invested in RKM by Mudajaya; and
7. Clarification that profits arising from MIPP's transactions with RKM cannot
be distributed as dividends to Mudajaya's shareholders since the cash (arising
from those said profits) had been re-invested in RKM by Mudajaya - unless, the
dividend is financed from borrowings or other internally generated funds.
