Description	MPHB CAPITAL BERHAD (“MPHB CAPITAL” OR “THE COMPANY”) APPROVAL FROM BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA (“BNM”) TO COMMENCE PRELIMINARY NEGOTIATIONS
The Company wishes to announce that it has received unsolicited expressions of interest from an interested party to explore the possibility of forming a strategic alliance with Multi-Purpose Insurans Bhd (“MPIB”), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. BNM has, via its letter dated 22 January 2014, stated that BNM has no objection in principle for the Company to commence preliminary negotiations with the interested party in relation to the possible disposal of a minority equity interest in MPIB. The Company and the interested party would be required to obtain the prior approval of BNM, pursuant to the Financial Services Act, 2013, before entering into any agreement to effect the above disposal. The proposed strategic alliance is line with MPHB Capital group’s business strategies to, among others, expand MPIB’s general insurance business, grow new business to provide new revenue streams as well as to increase its capacity to underwrite more insurance products. This announcement is dated 22 January 2014.
