Working experience and occupation | He started his career as a Civil Engineer in 1977, immediately after his graduation with Jabatan Kerja Raya Semenanjung Malaysia (JKR) in the Design and Research Division, where he was involved in designs and supervisions of ports and airports development works throughout the country then. Among them were Fishery Port Complexes at Terengganu, Pahang and Johor, KLIA Subang Airport Redevelopment, Penang International Airport and Labuan Military Airport. He moved up to a senior position in the Design and Research Division of JKR and assumed the post of Resident Engineer in 1984 and was responsible for the full supervision of the construction works for the airport development works above. In 1988, he went to the United Kingdom to pursue Master of Science in Highway Engineering under Shell Malaysia Berhad scholarship. He served a further 2 years in the Government service and left the service in 1990 at the age of 38 years old to pursue a corporate career first with Kinta Kellas Berhad, a project management company. He was the Regional Construction Manager undertaking project management services on the construction of PLUS North South Expressway. He was promoted to Head of Contract Division when he moved to Kuala Lumpur International Airport project in Sepang in 1994 providing project management services for the development of the new airport. In 1996, he joined Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad as the Executive Director of its construction arm. During the period from 1996 to 2001, he handled construction works comprising roads, highways, bridges, buildings, water treatment plants, seaports and airports in Sarawak. In early 2002, he acquired an equity stake in Embun Pelangi Sdn Bhd, a construction company. He is also a shareholder in HTM Consultants Sdn Bhd, a civil and structural engineering services company. |
