The Board of Directors of PLS (“Board”) wishes to announce that its 70% owned subsidiary, Aramijaya Sdn Bhd (“ASB”), had on 12 November 2013 received a sealed copy of a Writ of Summon dated 6 November 2013 and Statement of Claim dated 21 October 2013 from Oh Teik Keng & Partners, who is acting on behalf of United Forest Contractor (“UFC”). UFC is claiming for:- a) a sum of RM1,015,189.84 for alleged losses pursuant to the contract awarded by ASB to UFC for site clearance, cultivation and maintenance of oil palm and other site ancillary works (“Works”) b) a sum of RM63,444.65 being retention sum held in relation to the Works; c) interest on the claimed amounts; and d) other incidental costs. Although ASB is a major subsidiary of the Company, the suit is not expected to affect the operations of PLS and its subsidiaries (“Group”). However, in the event the outcome is not in favour of ASB, the expected losses will be up to the claim sum, the interest costs and other incidental costs relating thereto. Case management for the Suit has been set on 3 December 2013. ASB is in the midst of seeking legal advice to defend against the Suit. Further announcement on the above matter will be made in due course. This announcement is dated on 13 November 2013. | |
