Contents: Notice of Book Closure - Capital Distribution of up to 119,802,303 ordinary shares of RM0.50 each in Malaysian Pacific Industries Berhad ("MPI") held by Hong Leong Industries Berhad ("HLI") and Maxider Sdn Bhd ("MPI Distribution Shares") to the shareholders of HLI on the basis of 75 MPI Distribution Shares for every 300 HLI ordinary shares held as at 5.00 p.m. on 16 June 2011, to be effected by way of a reduction in the share capital of HLI on the basis of 100 HLI ordinary shares cancelled for every 300 HLI ordinary shares held as at 5.00 p.m. on 16 June 2011 and the reduction in the share premium reserve of HLI by RM562,150,671 pursuant to Section 64 of the Companies Act, 1965 ("Demerger").
Kindly be advised of the following :
1) The above Company's securities will be traded and quoted [ "Ex - Offer" ]

REMARKS: Participating Organisations are to take note of the following Capital Distribution and Capital Reduction exercise by HONG LEONG INDUSTRIES BERHAD. Capital Distribution of up to 119,802,303 ordinary shares of RM0.50 each in Malaysian Pacific Industries Berhad ("MPI") held by Hong Leong Industries Berhad ("HLI") and Maxider Sdn Bhd ("MPI Distribution Shares") to the shareholders of HLI on the basis of 75 MPI Distribution Shares for every 300 HLI ordinary shares held as at 5.00 p.m. on 16 June 2011, to be effected by way of a reduction in the share capital of HLI on the basis of 100 HLI ordinary shares cancelled for every 300 HLI ordinary shares held as at 5.00 p.m. on 16 June 2011 and the reduction in the share premium reserve of HLI by RM562,150,671 pursuant to Section 64 of the Companies Act, 1965 ("Demerger") In relation to the reduction in share capital ("Capital Reduction ") undertaken by HLIND as a SPEEDS Corporate Exercise, Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad would like to highlight that : a) on or after the Ex-date on 14 June 2011, trading of HLIND shares will be based on the newly adjusted share after the Capital Distribution and Share Reduction of HLIND shares,
b) on the basis of settlement taking place on or after 16 June 2011 with a reduction in the share capital of HLIND shares of RM0.50 each, any entitled shareholder who owns HLIND shares as at Ex-date may sell only up to the maximum HLIND shares he expects to receive after the Capital Reduction i.e. the reduced amount, on or after the Ex-date 14 June 2011.
With the adjustments pursuant to the Capital Reduction effected on HLIND shareholders' CDS account at the end of the Entitlement Date ("Books Closure Date"), an entitled HLIND shareholder may use the following basis to estimate the maximum number of HLIND shares that he may sell from the Ex-date until the Books Closing Date which is from 14 June 2011 until 16 June 2011. Number of HLIND shares that may be sold = Number of shares held x 2/3
on 14 June 2011 until 16 June 2011 (All fractional shares computed should be disregarded)
Illustration:
For example, if Mr X owns or purchases 300 HLIND shares (of RM0.50 par value each) on cum basis on 13 June 2011, his CDS account would still show 300 HLIND shares (of RM0.50 par value each) until 16 June 2011. However, as a result of the above Capital Reduction exercise, Mr X's 300 HLIND shares of RM0.50 each in his CDS account will be adjusted to 200 HLIND shares of RM0.50 each on the night of 16 June 2011 which is the Book Closing Date. Therefore Mr X may, if he so wishes, sells only up to 200 HLIND shares of RM0.50 each on or after the Ex-date i.e. from 14 June 2011 onwards. Participating Organisations are hereby requested to caution all dealers and remisiers that during the period from 14 June 2011 until 16 June 2011, they are only entitled to sell the maximum of (2/3) of the shares owned. Participants Organisations are reminded that it is important to caution all dealers and remisiers on the above to prevent the dealers and remisiers from overselling of their client's
position.
