Description | GUNUNG CAPITAL BERHAD - AWARD OF RM164 MILLION SERVICE CONTRACT |
INTRODUCTION The Board of Directors of Gunung Capital Berhad
(“Gunung” or “Company”) (“Board”) is pleased to announce that GPB Corporation
Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gunung, had on 26th December
2014, received a ‘Letter of Award and Acceptance’ from the Ministry of Defence for
a Service-Contract with the value of RM164,951,885.70. Details of the contract is summarised below :
1. Tenure
of Contract The tenure of the Service-Contract
awarded is from 26 December 2014 to 25 December 2017.
2. Scope
of Services The scope of services to
be provided under the above-mentioned Service-Contract, is to provide passenger
transportation for National Service trainees and trainers, by bus/coach for
eighty two (82) National Service camps, over nine (9) months per calendar year.
This involves allocating
five (5) ‘44-seater buses’ for each of eighty (80) National Service camps, and
eight (8) ‘25-seater buses’ for each of two (2) National Service camps.
(a) Designated Pick-up and
Drop-off
This involves picking up
the National Service trainees and transporting them to the relevant National
Service camp. It also includes provision of facilities at the designated pickup
point, provision of claimable meal allowances for the trainees, accommodation
and meals for the National Service trainers, and claimable ferry allowances
where applicable. Upon completion of the National Service program the trainees
are transported back to the designated drop-off points.
(b) Trainee Movement and
Trainee Activities
Based on the individual
requirements of each camp, this scope of service includes the transportation of
trainees for such activities as community service, shooting training, sports
activities, marching training, excursions (trainee gatherings), religious events,
administration matters, transportation to hospital/clinics, and any event
organized by the State & Federal Government.
(c) Transportation of
Volunteer Brigade
This scope involves the
transportation of the volunteer brigade for one (1) event per calendar year.
(d) Transportation of
National Service Staff & Coaches
This scope involves the
allocation of up to twenty (20) buses to the National Services HQ to transport
staff and coaches of the National Service program to relevant nominated events.
3. Value of the Service-Contract
The value of the
Services-Contract over three (3) years is RM164,951,885.70.
The contract announced herein will have no
effect on the issued and paid-up share capital of the Company and are expected
to contribute positively towards the earnings of Gunung Group principally for
the financial year ending 31 December 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Risk factors affecting the contracts include
execution risks such as availability of manpower, fleet capacity (coaches), breakdown
of coaches, and/or political, economic and regulatory conditions. The
Government has the right to terminate the Services-Contract in the event that
there is a failure by the contractor to execute any of the obligations under
the contract, breach of the terms and conditions of the contract and\or if the
contractor goes under receivership. Notwithstanding, the Company has established
a successful track record undertaking similar contracts. Note that Gunung
Group has an existing fleet of buses, and drivers to be allocated for this
contract.
None of the Directors and/or major shareholders
of the Company and/or persons connected with them have any direct or indirect
interest in the award of the contracts herein.
The Board is of the opinion that the acceptance
of the contract herein is in the best interest of the Company. |
