Description	AMMB Holdings Berhad ("AMMB") - Announcement on Meridian Asset Management Sdn Bhd
Reference is made to the announcement dated 23 December 2005, 30 January 2009, 19 April 2013 and 30th August 2013 in respect of a Writ action taken by Meridian Asset Management Sdn Bhd (‘Meridian’) against AmTrustee Berhad (‘AmTrustee’) [‘Meridian’s Suit’]. This action is for loss and damages together with interest and costs sustained over Meridian’s clients, Malaysian Assurance Alliance Berhad (‘MAA’) and Kumpulan Wang Persaraan’s (‘KWAP’) account with Meridian arising from the provision of custodian services by AmTrustee to Meridian. Pursuant to the High Court’s decision on 11 April 2013 (‘High Court Decision’) in the Meridian Suit, wherein the High Court held that AmTrustee is liable to contribute and indemnify Meridian for 40% of the amount that Meridian has been found liable to MAA and KWAP and awarded costs of RM20,000 to be paid by Meridian to AmTrustee. Both Meridian and AmTrustee had appealed against the High Court Decision to Court of Appeal. On 20 May 2013, the Court of Appeal dismissed the appeals by Meridian and AmTrustee (‘Court of Appeal Decision’). On 17 June 2014, AmTrustee had filed its Notice of Motion to apply for leave to appeal to Federal Court, against the Court of Appeal Decision. This announcement is dated 17 June 2014.
